Do You!

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14

I was talking to a young adult a while back when the subject of snowflakes came up. He asked if I really believed every snowflake was different from any other. When I said I did, he said he couldn’t wrap his head around that. The conversation then shifted to the uniqueness of people. “There never has been another you in the world and there never will be again.” I said, “Think of all the people born and died since the beginning of time. DNA is God’s way of proving He’s never made a copy.” His silence showed how staggered he was at this thought.

It staggers me too, but it also encourages me. I love that God made each of us unique. This frees us from the foolish task of trying to be somebody else. The intelligent design of Our Creator has given us a vast forest of uniqueness to explore and to share with the world! When I look at you, I see beauty, creativity, uniqueness, and glory worth knowing. Do you see it too? Don’t hide it and please don’t cheapen it by mimicking what you think is more admirable in somebody else. You are His masterpiece, and Your Designer is most glorified when you do you!

Welcome to Encouragement Outpost! My name is Dr. Georgia Pointer, a Christian writer who loves encouraging people in their relationship with Christ. I am a survivor of childhood rape and molestation, bullying, and emotional abuse. Negative thought patterns plagued me for many years until I learned to allow Christ and His Word to encourage and transform those thoughts. This background provides me with a passion to offer the same encouragement to anyone, not just abuse survivors, with the light of biblical truth that shines against the darkness of negativity, lies of the enemy, and daily struggles in living for Christ. I am a seminary graduate with a Masters in Christian Education. I also recently received my doctorate in Christian Counseling with a specialty in Family and Substance Abuse counseling. I served on staff for six years as a counselor at Moriah House of the Memphis Union Mission. I love the Word of God! I love studying it, teaching it, and speaking in public about it any chance I get. This blog, which I post about once a week, is my venue to share insights I glean. So, I invite you to subscribe to receive my weekly posts in your email and to share these posts with anyone you think might be encouraged by them.

  1. So true that much of my insecurity comes from comparing myself to others. Its so wonderful to be reminded that I am a one of a kind. #designeroriginal.
