“Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!” Psalm 43:5 (NLT)
Lord, I hear you are great at giving another chance even long after we give up on ourselves. I am exhausted by my failures. I admit my desperate need for You. I bow to You and acknowledge that no one else offers what You do, Lord. There is no one else like You. I hear you make all things new. Make me new. I hear you break chains, Lord, break mine.
I am done with trying to fix myself. I crave everything You are in every place I lack it. Here is my heart with all its defects. With your grace, grace me. With Your special brand of love, love me. Touch my weakness with Your strength. Best of all, mercy me with pure mercy. Through the blood of Christ, and by your amazing grace, purge me once again of the poison of discouragement as I look to You.
I choose to hear the singing You rejoice over me with (Zephaniah 3:17) I will my heart to absorb the pleasure of your forgiveness (Romans 4:8). I believe on purpose that you have renewed my strength with your joy (Nehemiah 8:10). Thank you, Lord. Amen.
